El rol político de los medios de comunicación durante la Presidencia de Hugo Chávez Frías (Caso Televisión. Periodo 2002- 2007).

Abstract

En los últimos años, los medios de comunicación social de Venezuela, se han visto afectados por una serie de regulaciones que han condicionado su forma de actuar y emitir informaciones políticas, especialmente después de que asumieran abiertamente el rol de partidos políticos opositores al gobierno nacional. Estos enfrentamientos entre los medios y el Presidente de la República, Hugo Chávez Frías, generaron un fuerte debate sobre la violación de la libertad de expresión y de los derechos humanos por parte del Ejecutivo, especialmente después de que el Primer Mandatario anunció la no renovación de la concesión del canal de televisión más antiguo de Venezuela: RCTV. Más que una crítica al mandatario de turno o a los medios, es necesario replantear la función de cada uno de ellos dentro de la construcción de la política y la sociedad, en pro de abrir el debate público para la construcción de valores democráticos, principalmente la libertad de expresión.

In the last years, the Venezuelan social mass media have been affected by a series of regulations that are conditional their form to act and to emit political information, specially after journalists and owners of means openly assumed the roll of competing political parties to the national government. The confrontations between means and the President of the Republic, Hugo Chávez Frías, generated a fort debates on the violation of the freedom of expression and the human rights on the part of the Executive, specially after Head of State announced the non renovation of the concession of the older television channel of Venezuela: RCTV. More than a critic to a the turn agent chief executive or means, is necessary to reframe the function of each one of them within the construction of the policy and the society, for opening the public debate for the construction of democratic values, as it is it mainly the freedom expression.
