RESUMEN
Los continuos cambios de dirección en el diseño de la Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas se analizan aquí, tomando en cuenta la observación de las edificaciones y el análisis de los proyectos. Se consideran las vicisitudes del creador tratando de materializar los dictados de un guion interno, escasamente formalizado, pero que resulta detectable en la evolución de los objetos arquitectónicos y los vacíos que estos conforman.
Hacia la primera mitad de los años 50, se alcanza una cúspide cualitativa que es el resultado de una búsqueda mantenida a lo largo de la década anterior. Esta culminación se caracteriza, por una nueva síntesis formal fundamentada principalmente: en la intensa presencia del arte integrado a la arquitectura y el espacio urbano; en la estrecha vinculación de las edificaciones con el lugar y las posibilidades que ofrece el clima tropical, que se expresa en la disolución de los límites entre el interior; así como en un nuevo protagonismo de las estructuras, que trascienden su fin utilitario para devenir en poética estructural.
ABSTRACT
In this article, the different alterations in the design’s conceptions of the Ciudad Universitariade Caracas are analyzed, considering and taking care of the efifications sights and the analysis of the different schemes. The problems of the creator are considered, trying to materialize conceptions of an internal script barely formalized, but they are patented in the evolution of the architectonic objects and the voids corformed by them.
Around the first half of the fifties, the design reaches a qualitative Summit, the result of the sustained search of the previos decade. It is characterized by a new formal synthesis grounded in intensive presence of the integration of architecture to the plastic arts and the urban space, and the close link of edification with the place and the facilities offer by the tropical weather. They are expressed by the dissolution of the limits between the building and the surrounding space, for the importance of the new role played by the building structure that transcends its utilitarian significance to become a poetical structure.
