ABSTRACT
This paper explores the experience of a Latin American researcher, Josué de Castro, who during his lifetime had enormous international repercussion but whose contribution was quickly silenced without the problems he denounced being resolved. In this documentary research, we review some of his works as well as their international impact and based on recent discussions, we return to the focus of a "politics of how" and the ways in which the realities and knowledge of the world could intersect constructively. The article offers a perspective that seeks to illuminate the counter-hegemonic currents that emerge from the south despite the peripheral position, drawing attention to arguments and products that, although they received enormous attention at the time of their appearance, were later quickly silenced, removing them from the discussion without the issues having been resolved. We observe how in recent times the problem of hunger and inequalities persist and are transmuted into other issues.
