Application of Roy adaptation model on adherence to treatment in patients with heart failure

Introduction: Poor adherence to treatment in chronicillnesses is a global problem and it’s human, clinical andeconomic consequences is increasing around the world.Methods: This study aims to construct of the conceptualtheoreticalstructure which to explains the interaction ofenvironmental stimuli, the coping mechanisms and adaptationmodes responses that influence the adherence totreatment in heart failure patient.Results: We used the three steps of Fawcett’s theoreticalderivation method, we illustrate the links between theconcepts of Roy adaptation model, the concepts and assumptionsof the treatment adherence model in patientwith heart failure.Conclusions: It is expected that the results of this study,based on Roy adaptation model, describes adherence behaviorsto treatment regimen in patients with heart failureand provide certain strategies and assessment criteria forfacilitating adherence to treatment in those patients, andit also could have results for future studies, so that relationsbetween variables are tested and nursing interventionsto improve adherence to treatment will be developedand tested.Downloads
