Abstract

Introduction: Morgagni's hernia is one of the rarest congenital diaphragmatic hernias, representing only 2-5% of cases. it is usually located in the parasternal region and is more common on the right side due to the protection offered by the pericardial sac on the left side. it is often diagnosed incidentally in adulthood and is usually asymptomatic except in situations of increased abdominal pressure or if new viscera herniate. the contents of the hernia can be omentum, colon, stomach, liver and small intestine, depending on the frequency. The objective of this work was to present a clinical case as an example of the presentation characteristics in a patient with a diaphragmatic hernia. Clinical case: 47-year-old male with onset of current disease on 08/05/2022 when he presented pain of progressive onset located in the epigastrium, radiating to the lower hemiabdomen of a burning character of moderate intensity without attenuating, hematemesis on 4 occasions, performed image studies, contrasted x-rays and tomography, evidencing an image of condensation and intestinal content in the right hemithorax, subsequently unsatisfactory EDS evidencing UEG at 25cm from the dental arch, referral to the general surgery service for surgical resolution due to diagnosis of out cell stomach due to diaphragmatic hernia. Conclusions: several studies evaluating the presence of diaphragmatic hernias and their presentation in adults were analyzed, finding that in most cases their course is asymptomatic in the absence of complications.
