Gastroduodenal intussusceptions in adults are rare, with an incidence of less than 5%, and when caused by gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) they are even less frequent. The following case consists of a 63 year old female patient, who reports 24 hours of evolution, multiple episodes of melena and hematemesis; by ultrasound, thickening of the gastric wall is observed and endoscopically, a raised lesion with a smooth surface, which obstructs the lumen of the organ. Intraoperatively, an ulcerated tumor is evident in the midbody, posterior face of the stomach, which protrudes towards the first portion of the duodenum, requiring subtotal gastrectomy; the anatomopathological findings indicate that it was a low-grade gastrointestinal stromal tumor with positive immunohistochemical staining for DOG1, CD117 and CD34. Despite the fact that it was reported as a low-grade lesion, given that he had hemorrhage, rupture of the pseudocapsule is assumed, for which reason it is considered an intermediate high risk lesion and requires adjuvant treatment with imatinib, which he is currently receiving.
