Abstract
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are an infrequent group of neoplasms, which constitute 1% of malignant tumors of the digestive system and 80% of all gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumors, their size is variable, from 1 to 30 cm in diameter. The present case consists of a 52-year-old male patient without comorbidities, who refers to 3 months of evolution, abdominal pain located in the left hypochondrium, of insidious, oppressive appearance, associated with early satiety and perception of abdominal mass. In extension studies, abdominal and pelvic tomography shows an irregular gastric wall, with a hypodense, large, well-defined image, which displaces adjacent structures; He was taken to the operating table, whose surgical specimen measured approximately 30 x 20 cm in diameter and weighed 2.600 gr, the pathological findings indicate that it was a gastric GIST with high malignant potential and a mixed cellular component.
