S. cucujiformis Reitter was collected on the aroid Philodendron ornatum Schott, 1853 and the palms Wettinia praemorsa (Willdenow, 1804) Wessels, 1988 and Bactris setulosa Karsten, 1857; S. bordoni sp. nov. and S. paria sp. nov. were collected on P. ornatum Schott, 1853. It is feasible to rear these beetles in the laboratory. The most efficent collecting methods are directly on the host plant and with use of lindgren funnel and etanol/metanol traps.
