First report of Anopheles (Anopheles) costai and A. (A.) forattinii (Diptera: Culicidae) from Venezuela

Resumen

Anopheles (Anopheles) costai (Fonseca y Ramos) and A. (Ano.) forattinni Wilkerson y Sallum are reported for the first time in Venezuela. Anopheles costai was collected in Municipio Sifontes, Bolivar state and A. forattinii in Municipio Alto Orinoco, Amazonas state. Both species were previously misidentified as A. mediopunctatus (Lutz). With the present report there are 13 species of the subgenus Anopheles recorded from Venezuela.
