Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros. Ilustre Venezolano, Estudiante, Médico, Profesor e Investigador de la Universidad Central de Venezuela

Resumen

El 26 de octubre de 2014, se cumplen 150 años del natalicio del Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros, ilustre venezolano medico, profesor e investigador de la Universidad Central de Venezuela. El presente trabajo se refiere a la vida de ese ilustre venezolano desde su nacimiento hasta su muerte, destacándose su labor como docente e investigador en el proceso de transformación de los estudios médicos a finales del siglo XIX, al crear cuatro cátedras Fisiología Experimental, Histología Normal y patológica y Bacteriología contribuyendo en la iniciación y desarrollo de la medicina experimental en Venezuela, motivo por el cual el Instituto de Medicina Experimental de la Universidad Central de Venezuela lleva su nombre. Fundó la primera cátedra de Bacteriología en América y el primero en realizar publicaciones en está área en nuestro país. Además de sus publicaciones el Dr. Hernández nos dejó un legado de médicos que continuaron su obra y ayudaron en la construcción de Venezuela.

Abstract
The October 26, 2014, marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez Cisneros, Venezuelan illustrious physician, professor and researcher at the Central University of Venezuela. This paper deals with the life of that illustrious Venezuelan from birth to death, highlighting his work as a teacher and researcher in the process of transformation of medical studies in the late nineteenth century, to create four chairs Experimental Physiology, Histology Normal Bacteriology and pathology and contributing to the initiation and development of in Venezuela, which is why the Institute of experimental Medicine, Central University experimental in Venezuela, which is why the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Central University of Venezuela bears his name. He founded the first chair of bacteriology in America and the first to publications in this area in our country. In addition to his publications, Dr. Hernandez left a legacy of doctors who continued his work and helped in the construction of Venezuela.
