UN CAMBIO CURRICULAR EN CIENCIA POLÍTICA: EL CASO DE LA UNAM

Resumen

En este artículo se examina la reforma del Plan de Estudio de la Licenciatura en Ciencia Política y Administración Pública de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), cuya aplicación comenzó con el año lectivo 1997-1998. Esta reforma representó una crítica de los modelos dominantes, que parcelaban las disciplinas e, inclusive, limitaban severamente el ejercicio profesional. Asimismo, buscó establecer mecanismos flexibles y realistas, de tal manera que el carácter participativo no obstaculizara la culminación. Se observa una noción abierta y práctica de la relación de la institución con el contexto, y se pronuncia la necesidad de ser críticos pero no ajenos ni opuestos a lo que se desarrolla en la sociedad global. Igualmente se mantiene un sistema lineal en la conformación de los programas de las materias, aunque se nota el interés en incluir algo más que una lista de asignatura.

Abstract

This article examines the reform of the curriculum of the bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration offered by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) since the 1997-1998 term. This reform brought about criticism to dominant structureswhich hindered disciplines and even severely restricted professional practice. Likewise, the text intends to assess flexible and realistic mechanisms aimed at enablinggreater participation without setting obstacles to its completion. An open and pragmatic vision of the relation between institutions and context is noted, as wellas the need to maintain a critical outlook without detaching from or opposing to developments in global society.Furthermore, within this curricular revamping, a linear system is maintained to structure subject programs though great interest is placed on creating more than a simple list of subjects.
