Resumen
En este trabajo se hace una reconstrucción histórico-política del surgimiento y desarrollo del aparato policial venezolano, tomando como base eventos que han marcado la historia venezolana. Un inventario de los elementos más importantes del sistema político venezolano que marcaron el proceso de centralización del poder a principios del siglo XX, definieron las transformaciones del aparato policial y caracterizaron el desarrollo del régimen democrático a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, servirá de asiento para develar la dimensión política de la policía, comprender su evolución y redefinir su rol en el actual Estado democrático y social de derecho y de justicia.
Origin and development of the police apparatus in Venezuela
Abstract
The process of creation and development of the police apparatus in Venezuela is analyzed in this article, from a sociopolitical point of view, basically describing some main events of the national history. The main elements in the Venezuelan political system that characterized the centralization of political power at the beginning of 20th century, defined the transformation of the police apparatus and led the development of the democratic regime, will allow to dismantle the political dimension of the police, understand its evolution and redefine its role in the social democratic State.
