Comparison of the Health Promoting Life Style in Patients Candidate for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Isfahan Shahid Chamran Hospital, 2017

Resumen

Health-promoting behaviors are a part of alifestyle that include six dimensions of exercisesituations, nutrition, health responsibility,self-actualization, interpersonal relationships, andstress management which affect cardiovascular diseases.In coronary artery disease treatment, bypass graft and percutaneouscoronary intervention are preferred as invasiveprocedures. The objective of this study was to compare thehealth-promoting lifestyle in two groups of patients underorgan transplantation of coronary artery and percutaneouscoronary intervention. This is a descriptive-analyticalresearch that was carried out by using the conveniencesampling method. The statistical population included allpatients candidate for surgery coronary artery bypassgraft and percutaneous coronary intervention in ShahidChamran hospital in Isfahan. In this research, 130 cardiovascularpatients in two groups of 65 participants wereevaluated by HPLP questionnaire. Data were collected byinterview and analyzed by SPSS (version 22), through inferentialand descriptive statistics. The results showed that,the average score of the health-promoting behaviors forpatients was PCI=143/8±10/29 and for candidate patientswere CABG= 136.15 ± 12.05. There was a significant differencebetween the average score of the two groups. Also,there were significant differences between score mean ofall health-promoting behaviors dimensions, except for nutrition.The results showed that health-promoting behaviorsin the two groups were in a moderate level and hadsignificant differences. Because CABG surgery was morecomplicated than PCI, the patients can be candidate for PCIby the improvement of the health-promoting behaviors. Inthis context, society educations could be effective especiallyfor cardiovascular patients in the field of health-promotingbehaviors, especially in health responsibility, physical activity,and stress management.
