POLÍTICA (CON ALGO DE HISTORIA Y SEXO) EN ÁNGEL PERDIDO EN LA CIUDAD HOSTIL DE RODOLFO SANTANA

Resumen

En las próximas páginas de este artículo, realizaremos una aproximación crítica y teórica a la pieza teatral Ángel perdido en la ciudad hostil, ganadora de la edición 2003 del Premio Casa de Las Américas, escrita por uno de los dramaturgos más prolijos del orbe, el caraqueño Rodolfo Santana. Abordaremos una trilogía temática recurrente en el teatro venezolano: la política, la historia y el sexo, ya que estos argumentos desempeñan un rol fundamental a través de la trama y las actitudes de los personajes de esta obra dramática. Además, veremos en este artículo cómo la obra coquetea con ser no sólo el telón de fondo del teatro venezolano, sino ser parte de la escenografía de la Historia de Venezuela. Asimismo, hemos elegido a tres personajes de esta arriesgada pieza, Macedonio, Ámbar y Jaffael, el ángel vengador; para arrojar una lectura desde sus acciones y observar cómo los temas tratados los afectan.

RESUME
In the next pages of this article, we will carry out a critical and a teorical approach to the theater play Ángel perdido en la ciudad hostil, winner of the Casa de Las Américas Prize 2003 edition, written by the world’s most long-winded play author, Rodolfo Santana. We will deal with a three recurrent subjects in the venezuelan theater: politics, the history and sex, for these arguments play a very important role throughout the plot and the character’s attitudes in the play. Also, we will explore the way the play flirts with being not only paramount in venezuelan theatre, but also part of the scenery of venezuelan history. Likewise, we had chosen three characters of this risky piece, Macedonio, Ámbar and Jaffael, the revenging angel; in order to interpret from their actions the way the themes discussed affect them.
