Estrategias de Aprendizaje Colaborativo utilizando las Nuevas Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación. (Evaluación por Grupos)

Resumen

Con el propósito de conocer cómo influye la conformación de los grupos en el éxito académico de sus integrantes y determinar los efectos de este tipo de estrategia en el rendimiento académico, se desarrolló una experiencia de Aprendizaje Colaborativo usando las nuevas tecnologías de Información y Comunicación en una asignatura de la Facultad de Ingeniería. El aprendizaje Colaborativo, se sostiene en dos teorías que se complementan: la Teoría de Aprendizaje Social (Bandura) y la Teoría de la Actividad (Engestron). La metodología utilizada es una combinación de las metodologías propuestas por Felder, Jhonson, Gross, Tecnológico de Monterrey y de la autora. La esencia de esta investigación fue evaluar a los estudiantes en forma grupal a través de actividades electrónicas dispuestas en un Aula Virtual. Todas las actividades hechas por el grupo a través de Internet fueron validadas de diferentes maneras por la profesora. Finalizada la investigación se constató que es indiferente la forma como se construyen los grupos para el éxito del mismo, igualmente se verificó una mejora del rendimiento estudiantil, enriquecimiento del aprendizaje y desarrollo de habilidades de comunicación, liderazgo, manejo de conflictos, etc. Las relaciones sociales y de amistad influyeron positivamente en la construcción de conocimiento de esta comunidad.

Strategies for Collaborative Learning using the New Information and Communication Technologies. (Evaluation by Groups)
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study the influence of group conformation in the group work success as well as to determine the effects of this type of strategy in the academic performance of its members. In this sense, an experience of Collaborative Learning, using the new technologies of information and Communication, was carried out in a subject of the Faculty of Engineering in la Universidad de Carabobo, Venezuela. From a theoretical point of view, the Collaborative Learning is supported in two complemented different theories: the Theory of Social Learning (Bandura) and the Theory of the Activity (Engestron).The methodology we applied, was a combination of the methodologies proposed by Felder, Johnson and Gross from the Monterrey Technological Institute and the author of this study. The effects of group conformation were
evaluated through previously planned electronic activities to be performed by the students in a Virtual Classroom. All the activities done by the group through Internet were validated by the professor in different ways. The obtained results show that group conformation did not have a significant effect on group academic success. On the other hand, an improvement in the group members learning as well as the development of communication abilities, leadership, and the handling of conflicts was observed. We also found that social relations and friendship, influenced positively the construction of knowledge of this community.
