La Desmitificación de la Investigación

Resumen

Este trabajo constituye una reflexión sobre la problemática que presentan los profesionales universitarios, en general, y los profesores universitarios, en particular, debido al hecho de no sentirse capacitados para realizar investigaciones, a pesar de que desean o necesitan realizarlas. Ellos generalmente creen que no podrían investigar porque para hacerlo deberían, primero, poseer profundos conocimientos sobre el tema que desean estudiar y sobre metodología, estadística, etc.; segundo, contar con recursos a menudo costosos e inalcanzables; tercero, poseer un status o jerarquía académica elevadas ; cuarto, realizar una investigación social o científicamente relevante, investigando sobre temas que respondan a demandas o requerimientos importantes y, quinto, disponer de mucho tiempo,. Este trabajo pretende suministrar elementos que pudieran servir para evidenciar la existencia de tales creencias, presentar argumentos que pudieran demostrar su falsedad o exageración y sugerir algunas conductas o actitudes que pudiera asumir un profesional para superarlas o compensarlas.

Research is not a Myth
Abstract
This paper constitutes a reflection on the situation that the university professionals in general and the university professors in particular live due to the fact that they can not conduct research even though they want and need to do so. They believe that they can not do research because to do so they need ,to have first, deep knowledge on the topic as well as on research methodology, statistics and so on; second, costly and unreachable resources ; third, a high academic status; fourth, time to conduct research that is socially and scientifically relevant and that responds to a great demand; and fifth, a lot of time. This paper was attempted to throw light on the existence of such believes, to present arguments to demonstrate their fallacy or exaggeration and to suggest ways to surpass or compensate them.
