Lo real y la singularidad de lo mental

Resumen

Este artículo explora lo mental a partir de su relación con la realidad. Se analizan las sensaciones y el lenguaje como formas fundamentales de encuentro con el mundo, donde su irreductibilidad hace inteligible la singularidad de la mente. Se afirma que las sensaciones no sólo abren las puertas al mundo, sino que también constituyen nuestra identidad, siempre en un contexto en el que las sensaciones no son reducidas al lenguaje en el ámbito de lo público. Así, el lenguaje y las sensaciones, formas tradicionales de abordar lo mental, nos orientan sobre uno de los rasgos fundamentales de la mente: sus vínculos con el mundo; y también sobre su peculiaridad, base constitutiva de nuestro ser.

Abstract

This paper explores the mental from the starting point of its relation with reality. Sensation and language will be analysed as fundamentals in connection with the world, being their irreducibility the explication for the singularity of the mind. It is maintained that sensation not only opens the way to the world, but it is also the substance of our identity, itself irreducible to language in a public context. So, both language and sensation, traditional subject matters to study the mental, provide the clue to one fundamental trait of the mind - its relationship with the world, and its specific way of constructing the self.
