| Abstract: | Shales of the Tertiary sequence from the Eastern Venezuelan Basin were analyzed, the result included SARA composition, biomarkers, pyrolysis Rock-Eval, bioestratigraphic interpretations and electronic microscopy (EPMA and MEB), with the object to making paleoenvironmental interpretations of the sedimentation conditions. From the results the stratigraphic sequence could be defined, which were originated by small oscillations in the sea level, giving rise to transgressive and regressive cycles, of fresh waters to brackish waters, in a deltaic environment, that returned towards marshy phases of terrestrial environments. |
| Description: | Se analizaron lutitas del Terciario de la Cuenca Oriental de Venezuela, que incluyeron composición SARA, biomarcadores, pirólisis Rock Eval, interpretaciones bioestratigrafía y microscopía electrónica (EPMA y MEB), con el objeto de realizar interpretaciones paleoambientales del ambiente de sedimentación. A partir de los resultados se pudieron definir tres ambientes de sedimentación a lo largo de la secuencia estratigráfica estudiada, los cuales fueron originados por pequeñas oscilaciones del nivel del mar, dando lugar a ciclos transgresivos y regresivos, de aguas dulces a salobres, pertenecientes a un sistema deltaico, que regresaba hacia fases pantanosas de ambientes terrestres. |
